Overview

The Public Roadmap template provides you with an an effective tool for creating roadmap of your product that you can share publicly. Use this tool to build the roadmap and keep your community and customers up to date on what your team is working on.

Not all companies share their roadmaps publicly or have a public version of the roadmap, however it’s a really convenient way to keep your customers aligned with your next steps. Very often, customers reach out to the company’s customer support to learn if a particular feature is going to be added, when it is going to be added, and so on. By having a public roadmap, you’ll have the answers to all of these questions in one place, and your support team won’t have to respond to the same questions multiple times a day.

How it works

To proceed with the template, you just need Softr and Airtable accounts (both have free plans that will be sufficient to start with). Afterwards, you can import the template’s Airtable base with mock data to your Airtable account and start replacing the data with your roadmap features.

An important feature of the template is the possibility to upvote roadmap items to help you understand which features are more valuable for or anticipated by your users. Moreover, users can use the “Suggest a new feature” form to make feature requests, which you can review and include in your roadmap as well (you’ll be getting the user suggestions on Airtable as well).

Lastly, you have an email capture form, which can be connected such services as Mailerlite or Mailchimp (more available through Zapier and Make integrations) to manage the collected emails and send out newsletters with new features or other updates.

FAQ

A public roadmap is normally a public web page that a company uses to announce what they’ve worked on, what they’re working on currently, and what’s next. It’s a good way to keep customers up to date on product developments.

Here are some common steps you need to take to build a public roadmap that provides value to your users: - Choose a roadmap tool. If you’re reading this, the choice is obvious. Softr along with its public roadmap template is a great option for creating your product roadmap in no time. - Provide a way for users to request features. The Public Roadmap template’s feature request form makes is really easy to collect user input. - Provide a clear status (e.g. “in progress,” “under consideration”) for each feature. - Get back to users who suggest features or provide other feedback. It’s important to get in touch with the users who interact with your public roadmap, to let them know that their opinions are heard and taken into account. - Announce product updates. The public roadmap can also serve to announce product releases. The email capture form of the Public Roadmap template addresses this.

As soon as you click the Use the template button, you'll be immediately taken to Softr studio and can start working on the template. If you don't have a Softr account, you'll be prompted to register first (a Free account will work just fine).

All the Softr templates are completely free of charge and can be used with any of the Softr subscription plans. However, Free and Starter plans have a limitation on the number of application users, so you might need to consider a higher subscription plan if you need to have full Memberships access.
